Young Adult Literature In the 21st Century
This book goes over the methods on how to teach, apply, and help students understand Literature.
Each chapter begins by surveying and discussing the genre (Romance, Humor, etc...) and then closes with strategies for teaching comprehension skills, vocab, and fluency based on that genre.
Up to date on the influences of the 21st century and using such genres such as Anime, manga, and graphic novels in teaching literature so students can relate and be interested in the text


It goes over how to teach Different types of fiction and non-fiction.
Examples:
Realistic
Romance, Humor, Sports
Mysteries, thrillers
Autobiographies, Biographies, Diaries, Memoirs.
Classics
Culture and pop Culture
It also goes over what to expect before, during and after you teach it to your students and what you can do to help them keep interest and participate.
üRecreate a part of a play, for ex: by Shakespeare or a scene from a book or presentations in groups or as individuals.

üQuiz that involves prizes (candy, extra credit, etc...)
Students will get into small groups and will be asked questions about the text. Friendly Competition. Also depends on class and how they act when presented with an opportunity to compete with one another.
üWorksheet With character analysis and their roles in the stories we read.
Challenges:
lack of interest in the text, which can lead to lower grades.
not understanding the text.
Lack of Participation.
